1) Currently my uncles company has a bit of a problem for the sales office in Shen Zhen to give the order information's to the factory in Qu Zhou, i could use Java to connect the 2 places, so when a new order is placed in other sales offices around china, they could immediately start on the production of the order, so they would not have to send via email, but rather done automatically.
2) Again with my uncles company. They need a system in order to place and store the order that is made, once the order is placed, it will given to the factory where they can put in the information that this batch is complete or in progress of being produced, this program will also keep a record in case any problems may occur with the clients, it is also going to keep the receipt for at least a period of 3-5 years.

A web-based Java solution might be do-able. I would look at solving the problem as a local solution and then writing up in the evaluation that the next step is to take the solution online and connect to an online source to store data etc.
